The Story

The imagery of a cage is often oppressive; restricting access, continuing cycles of tyranny, and engaging in the voyeurism of suffering. Yet, when viewed from a different perspective, from outside, the notably empty cage with damaged and warped bars, takes on a different narrative. It transforms into a powerful symbol of one’s agency and freedom, an escape from what has kept you trapped. Bearing the empty cage as a ring serves as a reminder, a trophy, that you have moved beyond its confines.

This substantial, brutalist inspired ring is fabricated in sterling silver, and features fine silver “bars” on the cage. These bars have a kinetic quality, allowing them to slide slightly within their openings, creating a subtle shaker sound. The ring has a significant profile, sitting high on the hand, and features an open shank for comfort.
