The Story

VoiceBox delves into censorship, the underlying power structures that sustain it, and the futility of confining expression. The piece depicts soundwaves, also symbolic of a heartbeat, journeying towards an unyielding, enigmatic industrial box. Within this box, the once vibrant voice is suffocated, extinguished, and emerges as a straight line on the other side. As the line continues up and around the back of the neck, the voice is re-energized and reclaims expression. It then descends again, returning to its beginning. Observing the piece in reverse, the power of hope arises as we imagine the voice breaking free from the box, finding strength in the darkness. Though the box sits with the power to quiet, expression perseveres past boundaries, never fully contained.

The partial neck collar is hand fabricated in sterling silver, suspended from articulating sterling bars running along the sides of the collar ensuring elegant movement. A cable chain comfortably contours the back of the neck, secured with a lobster clasp. VoiceBox is yours to discover, examine, and find your own voice in. Make a statement.

Please note: Due to size of piece, necklace covers most of decolletage. The bottom of pendant rests similar to a 18" necklace, though chain is shorter and sits higher. Please see photos for reference.
